Hello and let me personally extend to you a warm welcome to our website and our company.  I hope you will find some useful information here that will help you learn a little bit about who we are and how we may be able to help you and/or your family. Seeking psychological guidance is rarely an easy step to take.  But let me reassure you right now that all of us at Premier recognize the courageous step you are taking by first acknowledging to yourself that “something isn’t quite right” (at home, school, work or social settings) and then deciding to get real help for you or your child.  It takes a special strength in character to do what you are considering doing.   And we thank you for considering us to help!

Our Licensed Psychologists (Clinical, Clinical Child – Please see our Professionals Page) have been helping individuals and families for years find real-life results to their problems.  We specialize in ADHD evaluations, but have greatly expanded our services to include comprehensive psychological and educational testing.  We also continue to provide family and individual therapy services which include goal-oriented behavior modification for children and adolescents.  Each session also provides practical parenting instruction for those children with ADHD, PDD and other behavioral disturbances.  

For the adults we see (with or without ADHD), we provide thorough testing, education, counseling (individual and couples) and coaching.  Former patients and family members tell us we also provide “remarkably effective” treatment strategies for Anxiety and Mood disorders, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques and Psychodynamic approaches, as appropriate.

On a more personal note, when I launched Premier Psychological Services, it was because I have always had a soft spot in my heart for the “underdog”.  Family circumstances from my own childhood nurtured this aspect of my personality.  So today, for me, boys and girls with undiagnosed or improperly diagnosed childhood conditions stand a good chance of becoming one of these “underdogs”….and they struggle needlessly in school, at home and in life as a result. 

But I believe this can change.    I want kids of all ages to be able to shine emotionally, behaviorally and academically.  All kids deserve to grow up feeling good about who they are and to have a desire to achieve their full potential.  Kids need to have their dreams nurtured and shown how they can actually reach them!  Kids repeatedly need to be encouraged to NOT settle for making bad choices like bullying, violence, choosing bad friends or truancy.  By committing to work together, I believe we can achieve these and other realistic goals.

Nancy L. Peskin, MSW, LCSW is Founder and President of Premier Psychological Services, a clinic that specializes in comprehensive evaluations and therapy for children, adolescents and adults who have attentional, behavioral, cognitive and academic problems in school, work, home or social settings. After earning her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh where she was the recipient of the Dean’s Scholar Award, she spent several years in an inpatient hospital setting conducting research and providing therapy to adolescents and adults who were struggling with anxiety, mood and eating disorders. After much soul searching, she left the hospital to develop and launch a successful out-patient mental health clinic within a rural medical facility for underprivileged children and families outside her hometown of Pittsburgh, Pa. She provided numerous seminars at public and private schools, doctor’s offices, church youth groups, and community chamber meetings on childhood disorders/treatments before moving to Houston in 2001 to begin providing specialized services for children and adolescents.  In addition to maintaining a private practice at Premier, she also continues to provide in-service luncheons around the city at local area pediatrician offices and schools on childhood psychological disorders and current treatment strategies.  Currently, Ms. Peskin lives in Houston, Texas with her husband and hyperactive, but sweet, Airedale Terrier Maxine.
